Back to Tarra Bulga Park

Back to Tarra Bulga National Park will commence on November 28th at mid-day with a Kurnai/Gunai welcoming ceremony dance at the Tarra Bulga Visitors Centre at Balook.

Local naturalists will conduct walks daily from the Tarra Valley Picnic Ground and the Bulga Park Swing Bridge. On each Saturday night guides will lead visitors through these forests as the hoots, barks and growls of owls and possums echo through the ghostly white trunks.

View these ancient forests in awe from the suspension bridge and walks through forests of tree ferns crisscrossed by clear streams. Easy graded tracks will take you past huge mountain ash and ancient myrtle beech forests, sassafras and mint bush. Hear the calls of lyre birds resonate through these cathedral-like forests. Smell the fragrant clear air as you walk with guides who will reveal the 'resident' birds and animals.

There will be digital photo competitions with daily prizes for the whole family to enter, a sound and light show and exhibitions of historic photos. Daily billy boils and sausage sizzles will maintain people's strength to explore these giant ferny forests for the first time - or again.
