Ballarat Heritage Weekend is a celebration of Ballarat s marvellous 1850s architecture, heritage listed homes and gardens, culture and history. The Ballarat Heritage Weekend, held on Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May, coincides with Mother s Day offering a fantastic opportunity to treat your mother to a memorable weekend. During the Ballarat Heritage Weekend, the owners of some of Ballarat s most historic and beautiful private homes and buildings are opening their doors, giving visitors a rare chance to peek inside and wander through their magnificent gardens.
The Ballarat Heritage Weekend also provides an opportunity to step back in time with a trip on a horse-drawn tram or enjoy the old tradition of High Tea. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to research your family history. Amazingly, one in four people can trace their ancestry back to the Ballarat goldfields, so it is worth discovering if you are one of them.
The Ballarat Heritage Weekend will also provide a special chance to have your old books restored by one of the best professional hand bookbinders and restorers in the country. It is the perfect opportunity to drop off a book that has been in the family for generations and have it restored. While you re here, why not wander through Ballarat s array of speciality antique shops or visit the exhibitions on offer at the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery.
