Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields

Now in its 14th year and directed by its founder, Sergio de Pieri, the OBG festival brings some of Australia's finest classical musicians and some international musicians to perform in the beautiful heritage churches and halls of the central highlands goldfields. Twenty three one hour recitals are held over ten days in January with the audience having time to explore the region, share picnics, a barbecue, festival breakfasts and festival dinner. The musical program for 2009 includes the Interpreti Veneziani a renowned baroque ensemble from Venice, performing Vivaldi concerti for flute, oboe and bassoon, the Tailem quartet performing Beethoven, the Freshwater trio performing Mendelssohn, soprano Shu Cheen-Yu and the Trio Leonardo from Italy. Audiences enjoy the informality
