Lake Fyans Annual Fly In
In 1976 a small group of members of The Stawell and District Fly Fishers decided to try to get together Fly Fisherman with the idea of a weekend of fishing. They notified as many clubs as possible and thought that maybe 50 or possibly 80 would attend. They had a huge response and 250 attended so the Fly In was born.
It is now being run by a committee of members of the Sunshine Fly Casting Club. This year will be the 23rd and it will be held on the 10th, 11th and 12th of October.
It is a family weekend with bonfire Saturday night, with a free prize draw for adults. All children of 12 years and under will receive a toy.
All fish must be caught on a fly except for ladies and juniors. The heaviest trout caught will win the shield. There are prizes also for the secret weight, best condition trout, heaviest redfin and also ladies and juniors trophy's for the heaviest fish caught.
Fishing commences at 6pm Friday until 11am Sunday. The venues to fished will be Lake Fyans, Bellfield and Wartook.
It is not necessary to be a member of a club as it it open to all persons. Registration fee is $25.00 singles and $30 per family.
