Italian Connection Rally
The inaugural Italian Connection Rally will be held from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25, 2008. Owners of Italian cars and motorcycles will compete in a traditional motor rally that will see them arrive in Myrtleford on Saturday, May
24th. Michelini Wines will be hosting a tasting for the party that afternoon, followed by a scrumptious Italian dinner at the Savoy Club featuring the magnificent Coro Delle Montagne (Choir of the Mountains). A spectacular motorkhana featuring the 25 cars, from Fiats to Ferrari's will be held in the car park of the Savoy Club on Sunday morning from 8.30am with a breakfast BBQ on the lawn from 7.30am. Owners of classic cars will be invited to lead off a street
parade and then form a guard of honour outside the Savoy Club for the start of the leg to Melbourne. Local owners of Lambretta or Vespa motor scooters will be invited to participate in the parade too. The Alpine Shire's Mayor, Nino Mautone will be attending the three functions and will officially welcome guests at the Savoy Club dinner and drop the Italian flag for the start to Melbourne on Sunday morning. The Italian Connection Rally commences at Leichhardt in Sydney on May 23rd and overnights at Tumut in the NSW Snowy Mountains region. The next day the rally travels over the Alps to finish at Myrtleford, travelling via Beechworth. On the final day the rally concludes in Lygon St, Carlton where it forms part of the Italian Festival celebrations in Melbourne. The event is in aid of the charity TLC
for Kids.
