Words In Winter Celebrations 2008
The annual Words in Winter Celebratiions that are held around the Shire of Hepburn in August have become a must for visitors as well as locals.
The Celebrations originated in Daylesford seven years ago and have since spread through the Shire to include Clunes, Creswick and Trentham.
This year the celebratiions begin in Daylesford and Clunes on August 1, 2 and 3. In Daylesford there will be visits by popular authors, oral history in the historic Daylesford Courthouse dramas that unfolded there many years ago, poetry readings, concerts and an open poetry session.
Also in Daylesford will be a writers' workshop, performance novella, local film group presentations, a Scrabble contest and the very popular Book Ball to which people go dressed up as characters from a book, or the hero of their own autobiography, and bop away into the wee hours in the beautiful gold-rush era Daylesford Town Hall.
In various cafes, halls, galleries, libraries, restaurants, wine bars, neighbourhood centres and bookshops throughout the Shire you'll come across authors and poets putting magic into WORDS with enchanting performances to please, stimulate and entertain.
The salute to WORDS by local and imported artists takes place day and night with admission to most daytime events between $2 and $10.
The program for the Words in Winter Celebrations 2008 is available at the Daylesford and Regional Visitor Information Centre - 03 5321 6123 - and on the website.
