Christmas Race Day - Seymour
This is a popular meeting for people to conduct Christmas parties in private marquees or on the beautiful lawn areas.
The Seymour Racing Club was formed in 1882, although the first meeting of which a record has been discovered was that on Boxing Day 1853. Soon after the turn of the century, the club changed its name to the Seymour Turf Club but after a recess in racing during the Second World War, when the army took over the racecourse, reverted to its original name in October 1947.
In the past 10 years the Seymour Racing Club has grown from hosting 10 race meetings per season to 20 meetings in 2008/09 with the key events being the Victorian Country Thoroughbred Festival in August and the Darley Seymour Cup in October.
The Club has focused on improving its amenities and now presents a first-rate function and conference facility for raceday and non-raceday functions alike. The Club also provides an excellent training facility with three training tracks including a Thoroughtrack.
