Jim Lambie
Scotland s rock n roll artist Jim Lambie will turn ACCA s main gallery into a psychedelic dance-party with one of his signature floor-works.
Inspired by Glasgow s club and music scene in which he is an integral part, Lambie transforms artspaces into multi-coloured or black and white opti-delic shifts.
These obsessive floor-works made out of plastic tape snake around buildings revealing corners and architectural quirks. The viewer feels like an entranced club raver as Lambie s successive stripes create patterns and visual rhythms, making the floor pulsate.
Atop this platform, Lambie positions sculptural bricolage works of ornamental kitsch, music buff bunkers, mirror constellations and hybrid forms.
Jim Lambie was born in Scotland in 1964. An original member of the band Teenage Fanclub, he went to the Glasgow Arts School in the 1990s, but maintained his interest in music through his art.
