Preserving the past, enriching the future: Hugh Williamson's legacy

Preserving the past, enriching the future: Hugh Williamson s legacy will recognise the generosity and ongoing support of the Hugh D.T. Williamson Foundation.

The Foundation has funded the acquisition of a number of works relating to Melbourne for the NGV that show the history of our city, its people and the talent of its artists. Recent acquisitions include; in 2002, Tom Roberts work By the Treasury, 1889; and in 2005 Arthur Streeton s Princess Theatre & Burke & Wills, 1889 and Henry Gritten s Melbourne 1867. In 2003 the foundation also provided funds to commission Jon Cattapan s The Melbourne panels.

The Hugh D.T. Williamson Foundation also has a connection to Ballarat, and the exhibition includes a group of works from the collection of the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery which has also acquired significant works for their collection through the Foundation.
