The Art of Botanical Illustration 2008
The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne present the ninth Biennial Art of Botanical Illustration Exhibition of over 150 works by leading botanical artists from Australia and overseas. All the works of art are for sale, as well as cards and calendars. What is Botanic Art? The art of botanical illustration is a highly specialised art form, in which plant portraits combine finely observed detail with artistic expression.
The Friends of the RBG Melb is a vibrant organisation with over 2,300 members which supports projects within the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Learn more about the Gardens, the Herbarium, plants, gardening, and botanic art with The Friends. We offer a large range of events, botanic art classes, workshops, exhibitions, plant sales and opportunities to volunteer. Membership is open to all.
Botanical Art classes are held on Tuesday evenings and in the daytime on Mondays (two sessions), Wednesdays (two sessions), Fridays and Saturdays (two sessions incl a beginner class) in the Whirling Room Studio located in the Observatory Gate Site at the RBG
