Melbourne International Tap Festival
The Melbourne International Tap Festival is the only festival of its kind in Australasia and aims to unite and strengthen the international Tap Family. It has strong ties to both the LA Tap Festival and the NYC Tap Festival and it will undoubtedly leave an imprint on history by connecting cultures through the celebration of the historic Art of Tap Dance. Tap is a rare art form that all people, irrespective of gender or culture, ethnic background or musical persuasion, whether they are 3 years of age or 103 years old, can both participate in and appreciate.
In the tradition of tap festivals in other parts of the globe, this action packed week will be highlighted with workshops, master classes, films, lectures and jam sessions. The pinnacle of the festival will be three exciting performances headlined by the return of Los Angeles based, Emmy Award winner Jason Samuels Smith, along with fellow American Chloe Arnold, and a host of other local talent including;
Grant Swift Artistic Director MITF
Shane Preston Tap Dogs / Steel City
Paul Davis Tap Dogs
Christopher Horsey Bootmen, Hot Shoe Shuffle, 42nd Street
