St Kilda Film Festival
The St Kilda Film Festival has a uniquely high profile in Melbourne and in 2010 it will be in its 27th year of operation. The St Kilda Film Festival is Australia s longest running and highest profile short film festival and for six days (starting with opening night at the glorious 2,800-seater Palais Theatre) the St Kilda Film Festival will inspire, challenge and entertain audiences from around Melbourne and Victoria with VIP events, forums and screenings.
The St Kilda Film Festival is a curated festival that screens only the Top 100 Australian short films submitted in any given year. This ensures the quality and consistency of the festivals product, and makes for a fierce competition. More than 600 film entries were received in 2008 alone. These films provide an exciting preview into the next wave of Australian filmmaking, as well as help nurture and develop the Australian film industry.
In 2009 the Festival will again be embarking on its national tour around Australia, which was highly successful in 2008. The tour will kick off in July and screen the Best of the Fest in every state and territory across Australia.
