The Melbourne Stencil Festival

Stencil Festival celebrates 5th anniversary with a 10 day showcase. Enter the world of spray paint, pieces of cardboard and city laneways.

The Melbourne Stencil Festival started in 2004 on the peak of street art activities in the city s lanes and alleyways. Since then, it has become the premier annual street art event in Australia. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, this year s event will present three major exhibitions:
Five Continents Six Artists features artists from around the world including A1one
from Iran, Scottish stencil artist Klingatron, Sao Paulo artist Daniel Melim, former US
soldier Larry Cyr, Cape Town artist Kudzanai Chiurai and Melbourne s own Ralf
Kempken.

DeVinyl08 a showcase of limited edition vinyl toys submitted by artists from around the world, indicating the latest trend, where design and art meet.

Stencil Festival s traditional Group Show, which includes the Emerging Artist Award Competition and includes 15 selected international and 15 Australian artists from six states and territories.
Festival director JD Mittmann is thrilled about this year s festival program. We are

bringing together some of the most exciting artists, and as in previous years the festival will become a meeting place for artists from around Australia and overseas .

The final festival high light is the traditional charity auction of collaborative works which have been produced during the event by visiting artists. Proceeds of the auction will raise money for the Collingwood Community House.

Held for ten days, the festival brings a colourful program of exhibitions, live painting
demonstrations, artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, master classes and street art related films to the general public.
