ABN Amro Hockey Champions Trophy- Men, Melbourne 2009
The ABN Amro Hockey Champions Trophy - Men, will be held in Melbourne from 28 November until 6 December 2009 and the Australian team, The Kookaburras, are the defending champions. This will be the premier international men's hockey event for the year and will provide another opportunity for hockey in Australia to be on the world stage following the men's gold medal successes at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
The Champions Trophy is one of the most prestigious annual events on the World Hockey Calendar. Unique to any other major hockey tournaments, the Champions Trophy comprises only the top six-ranked teams in world including Australia, Netherlands, England, Germany, Korea and Spain. The tournament is structured as a round-robin format, culminating in finals matches.
