NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship
The most talked about prestigious A-Grade Stroke Amateur Golf Tournament in the world shall be played over 72 holes, at the outstanding Yarra Yarra Golf Club, on Melbourne's most famous sandbelt in Australia.
The NEC Master of the Amateurs is now proud to announce that the NEC Master of the Amateurs is now an official R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking Counting Event. This means that all amateurs that competed in the 2008 Championship earned points on the World Ranking Scale. Following the succesful 2008 NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship athe event jumped 70 position up the event rankings to be at 94th in the world, meaning it is now one of the top 100 Amateur Events Worldwide
Proudly hosted by NEC Australia, the 2009 NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship will see the golfing world's hottest unsigned property battle it out to see who will be the Master of the Amateurs and wear the coveted 'Green Jacket'.
Players compete in their first round of the 72-hole Stroke event with professional golfers, in the world's only NEC Master of the Amateurs AM-PRO. The amateur golfers join the professionals for the AM-PRO cocktail party at the Yarra Yarra Golf Course, secure in the knowledge that it will be them rather than the professional golfer who continues on to fulfil their dream of attaining the 'Green Jacket'.
Spectators are welcome to witness an elite group of Amateur Golfers from around the world, as they go stroke for stroke against each other. Also witness this elite group of amateur golfers as they challenge the professional golfers in the NEC Master of the Amateurs worlds only SRIXON $50,000.00 AM-PRO Invitational on Monday 12th January 2009.
The 2008 NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship again saw the students from Carey Baptist Grammar School,cadding for the amateurs on the first and last day of the Championship.
Tourism Victoria supports the NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship.
Victoria's peak tourism body has backed the four-day NEC Master of the Amateurs Championship, because of its focus in developing Golf Tourism opportunities for the state. The Minister for Tourism, Mr Tim Holding, has committed to the NEC Master of the Amateurs recognising it as a premier golfing championship for the state of Victoria.
