Sand Sculpting Australia - Frankston Waterfront 2008-2009
THE DINOSAURS ARE COMING!
In January 2008, after 7 years on the Rye foreshore, Sand Sculpting Australia relocated to an exciting new venue - the Frankston Waterfront . With Frankston beach, the pier and Kananook Creek as a backdrop, the area was transformed as 3,500 tonnes of sand were carved into scenes from favourite childhood Fairytales and Fables from around the world.
On Boxing Day 2008, sculptors from Russia, Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore, Ireland, the UK, Canada and the USA will again join with their Aussie workmates to form a team of 21 artists that will carve the sand to life as Sand Sculpting Australia - Frankston Waterfront 2008-2009 presents 'Dinostory'. These creative and very talented people will work tirelessly for nearly 3 weeks to bring into being enormous yet finely detailed sculptures depicting creatures and scenes from the age of the dinosaurs.
Integrated with the sand sculptures will be our regular activities to keep the whole family entertained. Why not try your hand at carving in the Sand Workshop area, or enjoy a tour and talk conducted by our resident sculptor.
During school holidays and on weekends and public holidays, there will be many more activities available, and the exhibition will be lit for special evening viewings.
