2010 Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival
Now in its 16th year the festival has grown with the assistance of Arts Victoria, La Trobe University and Mildura Rural City Council to become a major celebration of life, community and the role the arts play in our creativity, emotion and imagination.
In March 2009 the Festival program attracted a record breaking 23,000 people who enjoyed a range of events starting with the popular community engagement event - The Mardi Gras and Street Festival that saw over a 1000 participants and 12,000 spectators who all stayed on to eat, drink, dance and make merry in the streets of Mildura.
Two other major events also attracted large numbers with close to 3000 people attending both the Opera by the Lock and the legendary Perry Sandhills Concert this year featuring Ben Lee who wooed the crowds with his easy going nature and foot tapping songs.
As well as these well attended popular events the Festival provided soul food for arts audiences with cabaret, film, theatre, visual arts, puppetry, multi media and opera. Involving national and international artists we also showed off some of our homegrown talents such as the Kim Chalmers production of Elements, Ross Hill's puppets, Gallery 25's Italian Festival and the Bush Film Festival.
