Carnivale Wodonga Spice
Wodonga s annual Carnivale is going to SPICE things up everything from Salsa to Samba, to Bollywood and Brazilian. The street festival will feature two music stages and an interactive performance stage. With impromptu performances, stilt walkers and circus acts, teamed with fine food and art for all ages.
Carnivale Wodonga began in 2006 with Jonkunuu Jamaican festival in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games. In 2007, Carnivale Wodonga was HOT and in 2008 Carnivale Wodonga went WILD. In 2009, Carnivale Wodonga embraced all that is BIZARRE, delivering a spectacular event to an audience of up to 24,000. In 2010 Carnivale Wodonga is going to SPICE it up.
Carnivale Wodonga SPICE will incorporate the following:
Todos Arte: Community and school workshops for two weeks to create the sculptures, decorations and costumes for the festival as well as the making of musical instruments that culminate in a spicy saunter down High Street at the Carnivale Festival.
Lounging into Carnivale: an exciting prelude to the main event on Friday night.
Carnivale Market Day Wodonga: Community Market and the High Street traders will bring Wodonga s CBD alive with market stalls of quality art and crafts, roving entertainment and children s activities.
Carnivale Festival will include:
- Dynamic street performances & live stage entertainment
- Interactive art activities including carpet weaving, henna tattoos, Indian hairpieces, magic lanterns and jewels.
- The Wearable Art Award- this unique fashion parade will showcase the best textile artists on the Border. Be blown away by all the fine detail and skill that goes into making these intriguing works.
Carnivale Recovery: A Moonlight Cinema featuring a gorgeous spicy movie in Woodland Grove.
