Australian National Piano Award
In its ninth presentation, this biennial piano competition is held during September 8 to 13 in the Victorian regional town of Shepparton, it is known for its standard of excellence.
The Award showcases Australia's best rising male and female talent ranging in age from 21 to 35 years. They compete for $40,000 cash and other major prizes and, following this intense musical event can expect to be recognised as they launch their solo careers here and overseas.
Artists must perform masterworks by the likes of Beethoven, Bach, Schubert and Debussy, covering Baroque, Classical, 19th Century Romantic and French Impressionist music and music written after 1950. Plus they choose an Australian piece to complete their repertoire, in order to win.
