Scott Peoples Memorial Race 2008 "Scotty's Race"

The Scott Peoples Memorial Cycle Race is a 131.3 kilometer graded scratch race being run on Sunday 14 December in Shepparton and regional Victoria taking in a variety of terrain. In December 2006 Scott Peoples was tragically struck down and killed in a training ride. Scott Peoples was an exceptionally gifted sportsperson and was on the brink of breaking into the world of professional cycling in Europe. This ride is tribute to Scott Peoples and his family. The race aims to raise the awareness of cycling safety and the vulnerability of cyclists on the road. The race will include competitors racing through Shepparton, Kialla, Violet Town and Dookie with the race finishing at the Queens Gardens in Shepparton. Sanctioned by Victoria's main cycling body, Cycle Sport Victoria, Scotty's race is expected to attract in excess of 250 riders and will be dived into four grads, Men's A, B, C and Open Women's.
