Melba Festival
Dame Nellie Melba, a world renowned opera singer and Australian icon, was born and raised in the Yarra Valley. The Melba Festival continues to be designed to pay homage to the singer, opera and fine music.
Victoria's pre-eminent wine region, the picturesque Yarra Valley, played host to the fourth annual Melba Festival over the 11th - 13th September, with a series of performances by Australia's best new talents and the music world's most seasoned performers.
The music festival, the only one of its kind in Victoria, combined food, wine and classical and contemporary music, along with poetry, in the finest surroundings, and paid homage to Australia's most famous opera singer - Dame Nellie Melba.
