Dandenong Ranges artists invite you to journey through their world


The popular Dandenong Ranges Open Studios celebrates its 5th year with one big open weekend on 24 and 25 May.


The Open Studios weekend, featuring 22 local Hills artists, is one of the most anticipated events for the region s cultural calendar, attracting art minded visitors and tourists since 2004.


The impact this event has on visitors is truly magical, they often come back to us with a sense of wonder at being given an inside look into the dynamic workshops of our eclecticHills artists , said Ross Farnell, Executive Officer at Burrinja, centre behind Open Studios.



The Open Studios weekend provides an avenue for Ranges artists to showcase their work in their home studios, where their art truly comes to life, in its natural environment!


Open Studios is a cultural tourism event which attracts visitors from all over Melbourne, who journey through the Hills, following the map to visit hidden studios nestled amongst the trees of the Dandenongs.


Open Studios allows visitors to get inside the life of an artis in Yarra Ranges it s saying here is what we do, it s different, creative, unique and it s an integral pa of this beautiful place said Greg Box, Manager of Arts Culture and Heritage for the Shire of Yarra Ranges.


Featuring artists working across a range of mediums varied as potters, wood carvers, painters, digital artists and didgeridoo makers Open Studios is an eclectic art event set against the backdrop of a popular tourism destination.


Participating artists include Stax the Didgeman, local didgeridoo maker and player, Elaine Pullum, sculptor of mythological creatures and Henrietta Manning who has won a host of awards for portraits which have been exhibited in galleries across Australia.
