Two works – two extraordinary choreographers, Larissa McGowan and Anna Smith.
Transducer, a machine for converting energy, has inspired Larissa McGowan to examine energy in all its forms and impacts. The subsequent interplay between sound and exertion stretches boundaries, encouraging and revealing new dance and movement pathways.
Adventurous Sydney composer Charlie Chan has collaborated with Larissa to create the score which exaggerates this interaction.
As an innovative and celebrated artist Anna Smith takes on an exploration of Raymond Kurzweil’s concept of singularity. He defines it as ‘the moment when technological change becomes so rapid and profound, (that) it represents a rupture in the fabric of human history’, predicting this will happen in 2045, and the moment when technology and computers will surpass our human brainpower.
If the prediction is correct, how will this impact on mankind? This idea reflects Anna’s ongoing investigation into the ways we tip the balance, not only technologically but environmentally. Anna collaborates with cutting edge design company Bluebottle in creating set and lighting.Visit Website
