Festival of the Wind

Esperance has confirmed a first class line up of international and nationally recognised artists for its premier community celebration the Festival of the Wind in March 2009.

The signature event TranscenDance will bring together some of Western Australia’s best dancers, choreographers and set designers for a community dance event unlike any other.

Locals will be recruited to star in the performance under the professional guidance of artistic director Aimee Smith and choreographer Trevor Jamieson among others.

The Perth International Arts Festival is supporting the event by sponsoring an international musician to perform in Esperance on Friday, as an early taste of the main festival event the following weekend.

Many other activities are planned for the festival weekend, including a Flotsam and Jetsam beachcomber art competition and exhibition, live music, kite flying, children’s activities, food markets, street theatre, story telling and more.
