Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival
From 3,000 attendees at the inaugural 2002 event, organisers say the eighth annual Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival promises to be the best yet.
The town centre is closed for traffic and a variety of stalls and free activities including local solo artists and bands, fashion parades, log chopping, farmers markets, a wine tasting tent and the all-important Australasian Cherry Pip Spitting Contest.
The 2009 event will also feature the ‘Tastes of the Southern Forests’ avenue. A feature of the avenue will be cooking demonstrations using local produce by renowned guest chefs Don Hancey and Peter Manifis.
The evening family concert, held in the Manjimup Timber Park, will feature act renowned Perth band ‘One Step Ahead’.
The weekend’s activities culminate with the Long Table Lunch, held in the ambience of a working cherry orchard where guests will be treated to the best of the region’s produce prepared by chef Ian Leaning.
