2009 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships

The ITU Long Distance Triathlon Wold Championships, sponsored by the State Government through its event division Eventscorp, will be held from 22 to 25 October and proudly hosted by Triathlon Australia and the City of Perth.

Langley Park, nestled between the Swan River and Perth's central business district, will act as the transition area and spectator hub, as athletes endure a 4 kilometre swim, 120 kilometre bike ride and a 30 kilometre run for the right to be crowned world champion.

This event provides the ultimate challenge for all age groups and elite athletes, who will race for a prize money pool of UD75,000.00. Australia is arguably the strongest triathlon nation in the world, boasting Ironman champions Craig Alexander, Chris McCormack and Michelle Jones.

Watch the world's toughest athletes do battle on the spectacular Swan River foreshore.
