Australian Transplant Games
The 11th Australian Transplant Games anticipates more than 1,200 participants, consisting of transplant recipients and people currently undergoing dialysis, to compete over the six days of competition.
Transplant Games play an important role in demonstrating to all Australians the tangible benefits of donation, the living proof that transplantation works.
Western Australia’s first Transplant Games will be hosted by the City of Belmont and the City of Perth will stage the opening ceremony and parade.
Up to twelve countries are expected to attend the games, featuring 23 different sporting activities including swimming, athletics, tennis, lawn bowls, cycling, golf and badminton.
All children and adults taking part in the games have received a life saving organ transplant including heart, lung, liver, bone marrow and kidney. It will also be the first time tissue recipients are able to compete-both in their own categories in exertion sports and against organ recipients in non-exertion sports.
