Western Australia Demographics
The population of Western Australia at the last national Census was 1,851,252 people (922,268 males and 928,984 females) with an average age of 33. There were 58,496 people of Indigenous origin living in the region.
Birthplace
Of the population, 68% were Australian-born with the remaining residents hailing from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Italy. English was the only language spoken at home by 84% of the population, with Italian, Chinese and Vietnamese the next most common languages spoken.
IT
Of the population, 43% had recently used a personal computer at home with 15% under 20 years old, 18% between 20 and 44 and 10% aged 44 and over. The total number of people who had recently used the Internet was 704,428.
Labour force
During the week prior to Census 828,781 people in Western Australia (457,992 males and 370,789 females) were employed, representing 93% of the labour force. Of these 63% were working full-time. Within the total workforce 9% were employed as Managers and Administrators and 17% as Professionals.
