Greenthorpe is a small village located approximately 30 kilometres south-west of Cowra. The Shamrock Hotel in Greenthorpe is one of the oldest pubs in the district and is constructed of mud bricks. The Shamrock offers traditional meals in comfortable surroundings. The village also features a service station.

Located just out of Greenthorpe on the road to Young is historic Iandra Castle. Iandra Castle is a magnificent 53 room castle similar to those one would see in the English countryside. The castle was built by Mr G.H. Greene and construction took four years from 1899 – 1903. It is now a private residence but a good view of the castle is available from the road, alternatively, Ideal Tours in Cowra run guided tours of Iandra Castle once a month.
