Humpty Doo

Rural

Humpty Doo, one of the oldest areas of Darwin, is located in the rural area, approximately 40 kilometres from the centre of town. Often remembered for the failed attempt to grow rice in the district in the 1950s, the settlement now acts as a service centre for the rural district with many large properties and farms in the area.

Those looking for a tee-off will enjoy Humpty Doo’s 9 hole golf course, set amid picturesque rural surrounds. Humpty Doo has a supermarket, newsagency, bakery, tavern and doctors. The post office and service station are located further up the Arnhem Highway heading towards Kakadu.
