Bookham is a small village in the Yass Valley, about 29 kilometres west of Yass on the Hume Highway. The town was the inspiration for Banjo Paterson's classic poem "Old Pardon in the Son of Reprieve", from his childhood memories of the Bogalong Racetrack, now an open paddock. There are two historic churches in Bookham that were constructed using locally quarried granite. Bookham is also close to the Murrumbidgee River, one of New South Wales' major river systems.
