The original town of Jindabyne actually lies at the bottom of Lake Jindabyne, created when the valley was flooded and dammed, as part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme in the 1960s. Located closest to the Snowy Mountains ski resorts, modern day Jindabyne is also one of the state’s best trout fishing locations.
