Khancoban

Rural

Just 13 kilometres from the Victorian border, Khancoban lies at the south-western edge of the Snowy Mountains and Kosciuszko National Park.
The town serves the Snowy Hydro Scheme and just 10 kilometres from town, you can visit the interactive Snowy Hydro Murray Two Visitor Centre, the second largest power-generating station in the region.

Drive the Kosciuszko Alpine Way, a spectacular pass that winds through Thredbo and across the Snowy Mountains to Khancoban. Enjoy lookouts and the rest areas of Tom Groggin Station (where the Man from Snowy River lived and worked), Geehi Rest Area, Leatherbarrel Creek and Scammells Ridge Lookout. Head to Khancoban Pondage for its famous trout fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming.
