The charming country town of Scone is nestled in the Upper Hunter Valley and is known as the horse capital of Australia. Scone is home to more than 70 prestigious thoroughbred horse studs, an award-winning racecourse, headquarters for the Australian Stock Horse Society and beautiful national parks.

Enjoy the Scone Horse Festival in May with more than 10 days of rodeos, street parades, equine sports, racing and stock sales. Get dressed up for the famous Scone Cup Carnival held every May.

Follow the Scone’s historical walk to discover the many points of interest in town such as Mrs Hopper’s House, St Aubins Arms Inn and admire the town’s historic streets and buildings including the old jail, and courthouse.

Explore the nearby lush bushlands including the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops, the Washpools in Towarri National Park and Burning Mountain Reserve or pack your fishing gear and spend the day at the largest Upper Hunter waterway, Lake Glenbawn.
