South Kempsey has the award winning Val Melville Centre which houses the Macleay River Historical Society’s Museum, the Visitor Information Centre and the Dunghutti Ngaku Aboriginal Art Gallery. The building was designed by the internationally known architect Glenn Murcutt.

The architecturally stunning Slim Dusty Centre is also located on the Macleay Valley Way at South Kempsey due to open in October 2015, when completed will be an iconic Australian experience built around the legendary country music star and Australian country music.

The local Golf Club has a manicured 18 hole course with resident kangaroos and access to a number of mountain biking trails.
