The Channon

Rural

The town of The Channon is located 20 kilometres from Lismore and sits amongst hills covered in tranquil subtropical rainforests. At the doorstep to Nightcap National Park and the spectacular Protesters Falls, it is popular for its natural beauty, bushwalks and lookouts. Protesters Falls were named after the protesters whose anti-logging campaign in the late 1970s and early 1980s led to the declaration of the National Park in 1983.

On the second Sunday of each month, The Channon comes to life with its famous craft market. Up to 10000 people pour into the village to enjoy wonderful homemade cuisine and hand crafted goods and entertainment. The heritage listed Channon Tavern offers a traditional counter lunch, refreshing drink or hearty dinner. The Channon Gallery located just across the road from the pub offers exhibitions of fine Australian contemporary art.
