Tocumwal is located on the New South Wales border by the banks of the magnificent Murray River. The river is important for agriculture and is popular for water sports such as waterskiing, canoeing, swimming, boating and fishing for the famous Murray cod and yellowbelly.

During World War II Tocumwal had the largest airport base in the Southern Hemisphere. Today it is an industrial area for engineering, fabrication, manufacturing and a large grain handling operation.
