Vacy is a small community on the Paterson River. It was developed as a private town on land granted to John Cory Senior in 1828. It was then sold in 1927 at auction by the Cory family. With its school, hotel and post office/store, it is the centre of a small thriving farming community. There are several interesting historic buildings in the town including St John''s Church, Vacy Public School and the Farmers Hotel, which was rebuilt over 100 years ago after a disastrous fire destroyed an earlier structure.
