Merah North is located 73 kilometres from Narrabri on the Kamilaroi Highway in North West New South Wales towards Burren Junction and Lightning Ridge. It is an agricultural district, with its main crops being cotton and wheat, as well as raising cattle and sheep. Merah North has a wheat silo and a Namoi Cotton gin in the area.
