Murrumbateman

Urban

Murrumbateman, the capital of Canberra’s cool-climate wine region, is located in the Yass Valley, 20 kilometres from Yass and 30 minutes from Canberra. It is the ideal base to explore the entire area or a different way to approach a visit to the national capital and Yass Valley.

This former gold mining town is now at the centre of a thriving wine industry with around 40 wineries in the region. Murrumbateman has award-winning wineries, restaurants, cafes and farm gate experiences. Every cellar door provides a different experience. You’ll find yourself in places as varied as a one room Victorian schoolhouse and former temperance hall to architectural masterpieces surrounded by art and beauty.

The Makers of Murrumbateman showcase the area’s produce and arts while you can sample the relaxed, country lifestyle with a visit to the Village Markets held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Don’t forget the Murrumbateman Field Days, now in its’ fourth decade and held on the third weekend of October each year.
