Narromine GliderNarromine Shire is located approx. 450 kilometres west of Sydney, on the banks of the Macquarie River. The Shire is home to the townships of Narromine, Trangie, and the village of Tomingley.

The Narromine Shire is a predominantly rural area, renowned for wheat, cotton, fat lambs, citrus, corn, maize, sorghum, barley, oats, canola, soybean, Lucerne, sorghum, roses, irises, and lavender.

Narromine is considered the best gliding area in Australia and one of the three best in the world. Pilots from around the world visit Narromine every year, and the State & National Gliding Championships are held here on a regular basis. The Australian Ultra light Federation’s annual Fly-in, NATFLY, is held at the Narromine Aerodrome every Easter, which results in over 300 visiting aircraft. Narromine’s rich aviation history has resulted in the opening of the Narromine Aviation Museum.

Shire attractions include the Narromine Aerodrome, Swanes Rose Nursery, Narromine Iris Farm, The Lime Grove, Cobb & Co Coach Tours, Goobang National Park, Cotton Gin Tours and the Macquarie River.
