Dams and pioneers
Bourke, in the state's north-west on the Darling River, emanates a sense of pioneer history. At Menindee Lakes, giant dams on the Darling River have left half-drowned gum tree skeletons and an important habitat for wading birds, pelicans, and ducks.
The Back O’Bourke is more than a Geographical location; it’s part of the Australian language, part of our folklore.
