Cootamundra was first settled in the 1830’s. The town was built on what was originally a stock station called 'Cootamondra' owned by pioneer, John
Hurley. Today Cootamundra remains renowned for producing quality beef, lamb, and wool and is one of the state’s highest yielding wheat and canola
regions.
