Goolgowi, New South Wales

Goolgowi is situated on the crossroads of the Mid Western Highway and the Kidman Way, and is a popular stopping place for travellers. Settled in the late 1920s when the land was opened up for wheat farming, the village grew to service the surrounding areas and today includes two motels, a caravan park, Ex-Servicemen’s Club, general store, hotel, service station and primary school. Sport is an important part of the community and Goolgowi has a golf club, recreation ground and pool complex. Goolgowi is also home to the Carrathool Shire Council Office.

The heritage trail expands on the history of the village, and starts in Pioneer Park, a picnic spot with a playground, toilets and lawn. A soft sculpture, located in the Goolgowi Hall, showcases the history of the area. To see the sculpture, call into the Council Office on the corner of Cobram and Stipa Street.
