Gold Coast People

Very Positive

Gold Coast people mirror the destination.

The bright colours of the Pacific and rich rainforest reflect the vibrancy of its residents.

It's a place where people from around the world now call home. They've seen big cities, they've been to famous places and now they want the world's best lifestyle.

It's a place where people do and not just talk. Where projects are completed, where vision is realised.

One of Australia's fastest growing cities, close to a quarter of residents were born overseas. More than a third of Gold Coast children have a parent born overseas.

Yet the region has a link with indigenous history spanning centuries with more than one in 100 residents of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity

It's a place where freedom is welcomed, freedom to be yourself.

While more than 68% of the population is Christian, Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu residents have doubled in ten years to 2001. Gold Coast has a higher proportion of Islamic and Jewish residents than the Australian average - so there's availability of places of worship and acceptably prepared foods.

Gold Coast people embrace enterprise. The city has a higher level of private sector employment than the Australian average (more than 87%).

Younger Australians migrate to the Gold Coast, there's a higher number of internet and computer users than the Australian average.

Gold Coast people are alive. They are savvy. They are motivated. They are open.

Visit Australia's Gold Coast and meet the locals. You may even become one.
