Currumbin, Queensland

Kids feeding kangaroos at CurrumbinCurrumbin is small coastal town on the southern Gold Coast just south of Surfers Paradise. Currumbin boasts a sheltered swimming and surfing beach where the mouth of the Currumbin Creek and the Pacific Ocean meet.

Currumbin can be distinguished from other beaches by the Currumbin Rock. Standing several metres tall, the rock separates the two beaches of Currumbin and offers an excellent vantage point to watch the local surfers brave the waves. There are also expansive views north to Surfers Paradise and south to Coolangatta.

Currumbin is popular among beginning surfers because of its sheltered waters. It’s an excellent place to bring your family and friends for an afternoon barbeque, or to snack at one of the cafes along the esplanade. And just a little further from the beach you'll find Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Make sure to leave time for a visit and view the many wildlife species there.

And just a short drive inland from the beach are the Currumbin Rock Pools in Mt Cougal National Park. There are several pools and cascades that make for plenty of fun for the whole family.
