Croydon - Historic Croydon

With charm enough to seduce any passing artist or romantic movie director, Croydon presents a delightful retrospective into the heady days of gold fever in the late 1800's, when an estimated 30,000 people lived and worked in the nearby goldfields. In the full flush of the boom, Croydon was the fourth largest town in Queensland with an astounding 36 pubs bustling each day.

The town, beautifully and lovingly restored into a living historical precinct, now is both welcoming and intriguing. Its inhabitants enjoy sharing a yarn with visitors, and relish their role in the Outback legend they have created.
