Located in the South West of Western Australia, a region full of natural scenic beauty and pioneer history, Mount Romance is the essential Albany experience. Only a short 15 kilometre drive north of the centre of Albany, this award winning tourist attraction offers a surprising variety of activities. Visitors can stay an hour or a day if they choose.
At its core the company is an essential oils distillation facility exporting Australian Sandalwood Oil around the world, predominantly for the fine fragrance industry. The successful revival of this forgotten industry and its successful penetration into the world’s most powerful beauty/fashion fragrance houses has earned the company no less than 15 major state and national awards over the past 10 years, including Australian Exporter of the Year and Small to Medium Manufacturer of the Year.
Since its inception in 1990 Mount Romance has also produced personal health and relaxation products, focussing on the use of both emu and sandalwood oil in its body care and therapeutic ranges which are distributed nationally and internationally.
A free guided tour of the facility offers visitors an opportunity to discover the benefits and uses of Australian Sandalwood Oil, learn about the distillation process, the history of the Sandalwood industry in Western Australia and view the product manufacturing facility.
Afterwards visitors can enjoy a light meal, cakes and refreshments in Café Sultan, sample the unique range of Sandalwood infused wines, browse and shop in the magnificent showroom or indulge in a range of relaxation experiences. ‘The Cone, The Gong and The Bowl’ was conceived at Mount Romance and is a truly unique one hour break that will refresh, recharge and replenish like no other. The peaceful and indulgent surrounds of the ‘Tribal Dreaming Relaxation Centre’ offer a full sensory experience including a variety of massage techniques, reiki, reflexology and floatation .
