Park amenities
The park is administered in two sections with helpful rangers at Cradle Mountain and at Cynthia Bay near Derwent Bridge. Food and petrol supplies and accommodation are available at the northern entrance, two kilometres from the Cradle Mountain camping grounds. There are huts with gas stoves, cooking utensils and mattresses, as well as amenities blocks with hot showers and toilets. A picnic area with barbecues and a boat service is at Cynthia Bay, and overnight huts are available with beds and heating.
You can't miss Frenchman's Cap – the striking quartzite dome soars to 1,443 metres; white, stark and visible throughout most of the Franklin-Lower Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.
