History Alive! Heritage Inn Tours of Launceston offers guided tours of Launceston’s history, northern Tasmania.
The old inns of Launceston are an essential part of the heritage of Australia’s third oldest city. You will hear many tales, mostly untold, of Launceston’s heritage inns and the rogues and characters that operated them.
Each tour is a unique experience and through your personal guide, local historian and author Geoff McLean, you will hear about the publican lashed and jailed for aiding escaping convicts, and the hotelier who hated drinkers – and many more.
The tour also encompasses much of Launceston’s rich heritage. You will pass by sites of hangings, murders, political riots, historic churches and haunted buildings. You will also stand on the very spot that is regarded as the geographic and spiritual heart of modern Launceston.
Each tour goes for approximately one and three-quarter hours, depending on the group requirements. Bookings are essential as numbers for each tour are limited so that it remains a personal experience.Visit Website
